1/28/10 – The Howell Chamber of Commerce’s annual Awards Dinner provides a chance to give recognition to the many people who make Howell a special community. Wednesday night, no one was more surprised to receive the Citizen of the Year Award than the winners themselves. Recipients Charlotte Swann and her husband, Peter Bowen, told the audience of 200 at Cleary University’s Johnson Center that they were both surprised and humbled by the award. Among his many contributions, Peter Bowen helped develop the Fantasy 5K race, the Howell Area Parks and Recreation Aquathon and the Tour De Livingston. Among Charlotte Swann’s accomplishments are past president of the Chamber of Commerce and past board member of the Chamber Foundation. She also helped revive the Howell Melonfest. Among other awards meted out were the Young Professional Award, going to Sarah Marsh; the Outstanding Community Initiative, won by Kim Wilson and the Above and Beyond Award, given to Gary Kackstetter. The “Making it Happen” award went to the marketing class at Howell High School.  story WHMI Livingston Counties Radio Station 93.5 FM
